Compatibility
- Data files (XML) for old atlases will work with 4.1.0 atlases
- Applying a configuration file (config.xml) or stylesheet (default.css) from an older Flash atlas to a 4.1.0 Flash is not supported. Any design/style customisations you made to your existing reports must therefore be recreated if you publish a v4.1.0 atlas.
- Applying an old config.xml or default.css file to a 4.1.0 report may produce a suitable result in certain circumstances. We recommend that you test the updated report thoroughly and backup files beforehand.
Dynamic Report Performance
There are no significant changes to performance in the Flash 4.1.0 templates. Report performance depends on many factors but we recommend a maximum of 250 areas or points in the base geography.
Key Enhancements
Printing and Exporting:
- Dynamic report printing that preserves report dimensions. The administrator can set this to vector or bitmap output.
- Print Preview mode that allows the report user to move, resize or delete maps, tables, charts, etc.
- Report user can add annotation and sticky tooltips prior to printing or exporting
- Export to JPEG (requires the report to communicate with an export server)
- Export to PDF (requires the report to be on a web server that can communicate with an export server)
Area Profile Spine Chart:
- The report user can drag columns to adjust width
- Markers superimposed on horizontal bars to denote target values
- Cosmetic improvements
New Excel Data Manager Add-In
This is a file called IA Data Manager v4rel2.xla that comes with the InstantAtlas 4.2.2 release. You should refer to the InstantAtlas Getting Started guide for installation instructions.
- Now supports mixes of time series and non-time series indicators in the same datasheet
- Now checks for leading and trailing spaces in theme and indicator names
- Now checks that the order of geographic features in the different worksheets is the same
- Now warns when a data file will be overwritten
