Tutorial: Making a data sensitive report

In version 4 of InstantAtlas it is possible to make your report "data sensitive". This means that it will change the method of representation of your data based on whether those data are rates or counts. Rates will be displayed using shaded polygons (choropleth map) whereas counts will be displayed using proportional circles according to cartographic best practice.

You can view an example report by clicking here.

Steps:

  1. In the InstantAtlas Publisher upload a polygon map file as the base geography for your report
  2. When you publish your report, change the "Display mode" setting to "data-sensitive" on the Choose Settings... screen of the InstantAtlas Publisher
  3. Take care to label your indicators using the correct indicator type in your InstantAtlas Data Manager
  4. Your report will display any indicators identified as "numeric" using shaded polygons. It will display indicators identified as "count" using proportional circles (located at the centroid of each polygon)
